Welcome to our church! Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church (BELC) is a small local congregation founded in Temple City, California in November 1947. It’s one of the first Lutheran missions established in this area.
BELC cherishes its Augustana tradition and Scandinavian heritage. “Augustana” is the Latin word for the name of the city of Augsburg in Germany, birthplace of a Lutheranism’s defining documents, the Augsburg Confession. Our early founding members are descendants of Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish immigrants.
Today BELC is a diverse, welcoming, and multicultural community church housing an English-speaking congregation, a Korean congregation, and a Hispanic congregation. BELC is a living testimony of “Out of Many, One.” We love the Lord Jesus, uphold the Bible, focus on family, and live out the Good News of God’s grace in Christ our Savior.
